QUALITY OF LIFE

Landscape and Climate

Trinity County has been described as a land of great scenic beauty with the Trinity Alps Wilderness Areas, wooded mountains and swift streams all of which provide opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and travelers.  There is a substantial variation in local climates due to the mountainous terrain.  The four seasons are highlighted by warm, dry summers with average high temperatures in the 90's, and winter temperatures averaging in the 40's with a sprinkling of snow.

 

Utilities

Businesses in Trinity County enjoy one of the lowest electrical rates in California provided by the Trinity Public Utilities District.  Gas, propane, telephone and wireless services are also available.  Infrastructure for water and sewer are available in some areas.

 

Transportation

Trinity County is situated approximately 50 miles from the I-5 corridor, California’s major transportation route, and is centrally located on Highway 299W, connecting I-5 to the north coast.  The county is served daily by major freight carriers and package delivery services.  Visitors to Trinity County may choose to access one of our modern local airports.  Expanded air freight service is available in Redding, about 40 miles away.

 

Education

Small school settings maximize the opportunity to build strong relationships between students, staff and the community.  Access to post-secondary and vocational resources is provided by Shasta Community College Extended Education Centers in Weaverville and Hayfork.  Residents may also elect to attend classes at two state university campuses and other vocational programs within a two-hour commute.

Trinity County is well known as being the outdoor enthusiasts' playground.  Camping, biking, fishing, rafting, gold panning, hiking, winter and water sports all can be enjoyed in the county.
