Delta / Hirz / Kerlin Fires

Fire Information

On 9.28.18 at 1625, the Trinity County Office of Emergency Services was notified by the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department requesting a CodeRED Evacuation Advisory be sent out once again to residents on East Fork Road, north to Ramshorn Road and east to the Trinity/Shasta line due to a spot fire burning on the Shasta County side of the Trinity/Shasta County Line. This is a precautionary measure only, but again, residents on the north and north east side of Trinity Lake should remain vigilant in case the spot fire continues to move west.

The below information is from inciweb:

Firefighters overnight conducted a strategic firing operation to remove unburned vegetation between the Bear Gulch spot and the dozer line on the ridges above the gulch. This was done in preparation for gusty south winds expected later today. The spot fire is still within the boundary of Clear Creek, Dog Creek Road, Damnation Pass and the ridges above Bear Gulch. The smaller spot on Onion Creek Ridge remains within the hose lay reinforced fireline. The estimated size this morning of the spot fires that were discovered Tuesday outside the main Delta Fire perimeter is 1,340 acres for the spot in Bear Gulch and 14 acres for the spot on Onion Creek Ridge.

With the increase in uncontained fire perimeter because of the spot fire in Bear Gulch, the containment is now at 97 percent

Suppression repair continues on the Delta and Hirz fires. Firefighters are continuing to patrol the fires' perimeters.

62,059 Acres
97% Contained
782 Personnel
20 Structures Destroyed

Today, firefighters will continue with aggressive suppression tactics as they secure primary control lines around the fire. Crews will also focus on improving current fire lines mopping up hot spots along the fire’s edge. Predicted weather conditions indicate cooler temperatures, higher relative humidity, and light winds, which will reduce fire behavior and minimize growth.

East Fork Road still under mandatory evacuation. Advisory still in place from the East Fork/East Side Road junction west to Highway 3 northward to Ramshorn Road.
