Transitional Services for Youth

There are a variety of services available to youth who are in foster care from age 16 and up, including some services for youth as they age out of foster care and beyond, transitioning to independence. Trinity County CWS offers an Independent Living Program (ILP) to help youth who are 16-21 gain skills for independence and to help them with college, job rediness and living on their own.  For More information, please contact the local CPS office and ask for the ILP Coordinator, Angela Berglund at 530-623-1314.

Family Supportive Services

CPS works with families in several capacities, either voluntary or court ordered. Family supportive services covers a variety of services and links to resources that help families meet their needs and build skills to help them successfully parent their children and meet the needs of their families. Here are a list of services and providers available in the local community.  For more information, feel free to contact providers directly or the local CPS office fore more information.

Representative Payee

The Representative Payee Program provides money management services for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries who need help managing their Social Security or SSI payments.

Your payee receives your payments on your behalf and will use the money to pay for your current needs, which include:
 
• housing and utilities;
• food;
• medical and dental expenses;
• personal care items;
• clothing.

Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services (APS) responds to reports from individuals, concerned citizens, social service and health providers, and law enforcement about adults with physical, mental, or development disabilities, or elders who may be physically or financially abused, neglected, or exploited, or who are unable to meet their own needs for food, clothing, and shelter. Upon receipt of a report, APS sends a social worker to make a home visit or contact the elder or dependent adult.
